Chapter 257: Ch.256 Uprising

Chapter 257: Ch.256 Uprising

Whether it was in real-world history or the reality of this universe, the Italians—aside from their navy—were often the weakest link.

These generals... could they even fight a war? They probably needed help just to get in and out of their cars.

As they passed by, Su Ming subtly lifted the wallet from one of the generals\' wives. Inside were several German marks.

"The sorcerers didn\'t follow. They went in the opposite direction," Monarch noted. The three stopped momentarily at a nearby stall, buying some corn to feed the pigeons.

While casually scattering the kernels, they observed their surroundings. Monarch frowned as he tried to sense something, but the results left him puzzled.

The floating cloak discreetly poked its collar out of the box, bobbing up and down in agreement with Monarch\'s assessment.

Su Ming wasn\'t sure why the sorcerers hadn\'t tracked them down, but the result was favorable enough. Maybe their "divining rods" had malfunctioned.

A massive Nazi flag draped from the Eiffel Tower, flapping in the wind, while many people took pictures, eager to capture the grandeur of the Third Reich.

To these people, the defeat of the Allies seemed inevitable. With their brilliant Führer, advanced technology, and an enormous iron-clad army, the will of the Third Reich appeared unstoppable.

Fanaticism. Adoration. Aspirations. Joy.

Just one glance at their faces, and Su Ming could easily read their thoughts. He couldn\'t help but chuckle.

This is a world of superheroes. What seems invincible to ordinary people is little more than a toy for some of the beings here.

He threw a handful of corn, watching the white pigeons hop and flutter closer. The birds, symbols of peace, seemed unaware of what was happening around them.

While many people struggled to get food, the pigeons could still feast, only now it was the Germans feeding them.

"Coo coo," Su Ming muttered with amusement as he played with the pigeons. After a week of fighting with the Abomination, he wanted to enjoy a brief moment of peace.

The pigeons cocked their heads to look at him before continuing to peck at the ground, leaving behind little white droppings.

"Ahem, Slade, what\'s the plan now?" the doctor asked, bringing Su Ming back to reality. Su Ming tossed the remaining corn farther away, watching the birds rush after it, completely unfazed.

"Well, since we\'re in Paris, we might as well climb the Eiffel Tower."

Halloway wiped his small mustache, glancing around at the crowd. "We\'re surrounded by enemies. Are we really going sightseeing with them?"

Lowering his voice, Su Ming glanced at the ground and briefly explained to the doctor, "The situation is unclear. I need to get a good look at the layout and terrain, and there\'s no better vantage point than the top of the Eiffel Tower."

Inside the box, the cloak twisted and knocked against the sides, making a noise in protest.

The Eiffel Tower? Really? If you put me on, we could be flying next to the sun in no time!

Despite the long box containing the Night Sword looking like a camera tripod, tripods typically didn\'t make noise.

"Cut it out. You\'re the most useful, okay?" Su Ming grumbled, patting the box to cover up the sound. He realized that the floating cloak was getting cheeky—probably something it picked up from Wade.

During the week-long battle with the Abomination, the cloak had fought alongside them and heard plenty of Deadpool\'s rambling nonsense.

For now, the plan was simple: get a bird\'s-eye view from the Eiffel Tower. From the observation deck, they could survey all of Paris, and with the mental map Su Ming would form, escaping any future pursuit would be easy.

Forty-five minutes later, the three of them stood on the Eiffel Tower\'s observation deck. There was no elevator yet—that wouldn\'t be installed for another few decades—so they had climbed the stairs to enjoy the view.

Around them, all the conversations were in German, with people admiring the city\'s beauty and the impending sunset.

Su Ming remained silent, carefully scanning the city in every direction, mentally recording every detail.

This spot could be perfect for an ambush, here I can set up three kinds of traps, there\'s an entrance to the sewers...

Yeah, the sewers are perfect. I love moving through the sewers. I could call myself Su Duck if I wanted to.

Meanwhile, the doctor and Monarch had decided to enjoy the view, their attention entirely on sightseeing.

It couldn\'t be helped. Their observational skills and memory weren\'t as sharp, and with neither of them speaking German, all they could do was take in the scenery to pass the time.

After a few minutes, Su Ming had memorized the entire map: how many doors were on each street, the flow of people, potential shortcuts. Everything was committed to his mind.

He patted both of them on the shoulders and signaled for them to start heading back down the tower.

They both seemed reluctant, as they were just about to see the sunset. What a shame.

But it wasn\'t an issue. After the war, they could stay in Paris if they wanted. The doctor\'s disappointment was understandable, but why was Monarch sighing?

You literally watched the Eiffel Tower being built, didn\'t you?

Just as they began descending the stairs, an explosion erupted in the distance. A massive fireball momentarily outshone the setting sun, followed by thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

Everyone on the tower paused to watch, and murmurs of discussion filled the air.

"This isn\'t a good place to talk," Su Ming muttered, pulling the other two through the crowd, hurrying down the stairs.

They needed to investigate what had happened. If it was just a minor attack from the resistance, it might stir up trouble and complicate Su Ming\'s plans.

But if it turned out to be something bigger, Su Ming would have the perfect excuse to switch to his third plan and add fuel to the fire.

The explosion was about four kilometers away. After ducking into an alley, Su Ming quickly hotwired a car, and the three of them sped off toward the site.

They weren\'t the only ones. Along the way, they passed many German soldiers rushing toward the same location. Su Ming even got a glimpse of more advanced Hydra tech.

There were energy tanks, monstrous six-legged police hounds, and heavily modified cyborg soldiers.

Yet, amidst all the chaos, no one seemed to notice their small black sedan. Su Ming blended seamlessly into the convoy of military vehicles, driving confidently toward the explosion.

As they got closer, the sounds of gunfire became clearer. Though the initial blast had been enormous, the smaller, continuous explosions that followed were still loud and relentless.

"Well, well, not bad," Su Ming muttered, lighting a cigarette. "Whoever they are, they\'ve held out this long against the superior firepower of the German army. Interesting."

Does France have any superheroes? I don\'t remember any... except for a few villains, but this isn\'t their time.

So who could have caused such a commotion, throwing Paris into such a state of panic?
